YMCA to Honor Former Board Chair Charlie Goldberger with Ralph Penny Award

We are proud to announce that Charles A. Goldberger Esq., senior counsel at McCullough, Goldberger & Staudt, LLP and former Chair of the Y’s Board of Governors, will receive the 2025 Ralph Penny Award. This prestigious honor is awarded annually to individuals who exemplify the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Charlie’s leadership helped guide the YMCA through the sale and relocation of its White Plains facility, ensuring uninterrupted services for local children and families. He also led efforts to support youth athletics through the Loucks 5K, an event renamed the Charlie Goldberger Loucks 5Kin his honor. Beyond the Y, Charlie has provided pro bono legal counsel to 9/11 victims and served a variety of nonprofit and community causes throughout Westchester.

“Charlie has been a vital part of our YMCA family for more than three decades. Whether serving as Board Chair, legal advisor, or champion for our programs, his steady leadership and unwavering commitment have guided us through some of our most important milestones,” said Cynthia Delfino Birdsall, President & CEO of the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester. “His belief in our mission and dedication to our community continue to inspire all of us at the Y.”

Charlie will be recognized at the YMCA’s 40th Annual Golf Outing Dinner on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Scarsdale Golf Club. All proceeds from the event support critical YMCA youth development programs across the region.
