The YMCA of Central & Northern Westchester is delighted to welcome Edie Magnus and Marijo Murphy to its Board of Governors. Their leadership, expertise, and commitment to community will help the Y continue its mission to nurture the potential of every child, promote healthy living, and foster social responsibility.
“We are honored to welcome Edie and Marijo to our Board of Governors,” shared Cynthia Delfino-Birdsall, President & CEO. “Their leadership and compassion will help us serve youth, families, and communities across Westchester and Putnam counties with Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.”

Edie Magnus is an Emmy and Murrow Award-winning journalist with more than 25 years of experience. She has also served as Executive Director of Media & Innovation at Mercy University, where she taught communications and guided media strategy. Edie remains active in nonprofit leadership and continues her work in education, media, and advocacy, bringing a powerful voice for positive change to the YMCA.

Marijo Murphy is a proven leader with nearly 30 years of experience at New York Life Insurance Company, where she guided teams through complex regulatory, compliance, and business challenges. More recently, she transitioned into nonprofit law, providing direct support to families and individuals in need. Marijo’s dedication to fairness, integrity, and service aligns seamlessly with the YMCA’s mission to strengthen communities and support families.
Both new members bring exceptional expertise, perspective, and passion to the Board, strengthening the YMCA’s ability to provide high-quality programs—from early childhood education and after-school care to Camp Combe’s summer leadership opportunities. Their service exemplifies the Y’s core values and commitment to building a stronger, healthier community for all.
