SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE

WHERE CHILDREN IN GRADES K-8 ENGAGE, LEARN, AND ACHIEVE

At the YMCA we have been providing high-quality, affordable care to our local community for over 20 years. Our Y’s School Age Care program extends your child’s learning day in a fun and meaningful way! Our programs enable children to realize their potential in a place where fun & learning go hand in hand. With a focus on character development and healthy living, children experience academic, physical, and social activities, under the supervision of positive, caring role models. Parents enjoy peace of mind knowing their school-age children have safe, healthy options before and after school – right in their child’s school.

Our programs provide academic intervention, healthy activities, and enrichment opportunities throughout the school year, boosting their grades and reducing their risk-taking behaviors.

“I wanted to say I don’t know what you guys do there after school with these kids but you are all doing an exceptional job! I’ve never seen R so eager going anywhere and not only that but interacting with others. He’s always had issues with that at times due to the borderline autism diagnosis. Yet his favorite days of the week are the three he spends with you guys and I just wanted to let you know that! 😊. Thank you so much again! SR“ Parent of an After School Student

Why? Because kids thrive under supervised freedom, creative activities, learning through play, and having fun!

The YMCA SACC program offers a quiet, structured atmosphere with Y Staff assistance to complete daily school assignments. They will assist each student when necessary; however, children will be encouraged to complete homework independently. While assignments are checked for completion, it is the responsibility of the parent to check for accuracy.

Please take a few moments to read this handbook; we designed it to inform parents and children all about our programs, policies, and procedures. Our goal is to provide you with great programs as well as excellent customer service. Please let us know if there is anything, we can do to improve your experience.

Each site is considered a licensed SACC center by the NYS Office of Children & Family Services. Your child’s file is subject to random inspection at any point in the school year. For this reason, registration packets must be complete before fully enrolling your child.

Early Dismissals:  On scheduled half days, the program will open at dismissal, at no extra charge, to accommodate all kids registered for that after-school program.  If your child is not registered for that day, there will be a $50 extra day fee, if space is available. We will only open for the early dismissal if the ENTIRE school is dismissed early. There are no refunds for emergency early dismissal due to weather or other emergencies.

School Closing: In the event that the school is closed for inclement weather or emergencies- all YMCA programs will be closed.

Delayed Opening: In the event that the school has a delayed opening, the Before School Program will be closed. The After School program will operate according to schedule.

Cancellation of After School Activities: In the event that the school district has canceled after-school activities, we reserve the right to close the program, as well.

*If weather conditions become hazardous during after-school program hours we reserve the right to close early. In this situation, you must make arrangements to pick your child up at the modified time.

Closures can usually be found on News Channel 12 or Facebook here.
