It was a busy and exciting weekend for our teen programs, with two groups of YMCA teens taking part in meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and lead.

Our Teen Leaders traveled to YMCA Camp Watson Woods to attend Winter Rally. This annual gathering brings teens from YMCAs across the region together for a weekend focused on leadership development, teamwork, and building strong connections. Throughout the weekend, our Teen Leaders participated in group activities, discussions, and challenges designed to strengthen their confidence and encourage them to support one another as leaders in their communities. It was also a chance to form new friendships, share experiences with peers from other YMCAs, and enjoy the fun and energy that comes from spending time together at camp.
At the same time, our Youth & Government (YAG) teens attended the Tri-County Conference hosted by the Rockland County YMCA. This conference gave students the opportunity to step into the role of legislators as they practiced debating bills, presenting ideas, and working collaboratively with peers from neighboring counties. Through these hands-on experiences, teens strengthened important skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, and respectful dialogue—skills that help prepare them to be thoughtful and engaged citizens.
Both events provided powerful opportunities for teens to build confidence, practice leadership, and connect with others who share their desire to make a positive impact. Experiences like these help young people discover their voice, develop a strong sense of responsibility, and learn the value of working together with honesty, respect, and care for others.
We are incredibly proud of our teens for representing the YMCA so well this weekend and for continuing to grow as the leaders of tomorrow.
