We are proud to announce that Chris Combe has been named this year’s recipient of the Ralph Penny Award—an honor established in memory of former YMCA board member Ralph Penny. This award is presented annually to individuals who embody Ralph’s enduring spirit of service, leadership, and philanthropy, and whose contributions have helped shape a stronger, more connected community.

Chris Combe exemplifies these values in every sense. A longtime champion of the YMCA and a respected leader in our community, Chris has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to expanding opportunities for young people and families. His extraordinary generosity made it possible to establish the property that became YMCA Camp Combe—a place that has since provided generations of children with meaningful experiences rooted in growth, confidence, and belonging.

His impact extends beyond this transformational gift. Each year, COMBE closes its offices for a day so its entire team can volunteer at Camp Combe—painting, planting, and preparing the grounds to welcome campers for the summer season. This hands-on commitment reflects a deep belief in the YMCA’s mission and ensures that every child arrives at a space that is safe, welcoming, and full of possibility. In addition, COMBE’s generous contributions to the YMCA’s scholarship fund continue to expand access, helping more children experience the life-changing benefits of camp and other YMCA programs.

We invite our members, families, and community partners to join us in celebrating Chris and his remarkable legacy at our Annual YMCA Golf Outing Dinner. This special event brings together supporters from across the region to recognize community impact, strengthen connections, and raise critical funds to ensure that YMCA programs remain accessible to all.
