The YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester is thrilled to announce that our Chief Executive Officer, Cynthia Delfino-Birdsall, has been awarded the prestigious Women in Business Success Award by the Business Council of Westchester. This honor recognizes her outstanding leadership, vision, and dedication to creating transformative impact in Westchester and Putnam Counties.
Under Cynthia’s leadership over the past five years, the YMCA has achieved remarkable growth and milestones that have significantly enriched the lives of local families and children:
- Early Learning Centers: Expanded from 43 children in 2019 to 77 children in 2024, providing a strong foundation for young learners.
- Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK): Increased from 80 children in 2019 to 724 children in 2024, ensuring access to quality education.
- Before and After School Programs: Grew from 420 children in 2019 to 1,276 children in 2024, supporting working families with essential childcare.
- Summer Camp: It now welcomes an average of 698 campers each summer, with 178 of them participating in life-saving swim lessons annually.
- Teen Programs: Expanded from 33 teens in 2019 to 93 teens in 2024, fostering leadership and personal growth.
- Volunteer Hours: Increased from 7,580 hours in 2019 to 12,603 hours in 2024, reflecting a deep commitment from the community.
- Grants and Donations: Skyrocketed from $338,824 in 2019 to $1,298,565 in 2023, enabling the YMCA to broaden its programs and outreach.
Cynthia’s visionary approach has elevated the YMCA’s programs, strengthened partnerships, and inspired countless individuals to join the mission of building stronger communities. Her dedication to inclusivity, innovation, and opportunity exemplifies the spirit of the Women in Business Success Award.
