Calendar Of Events
Activities at the White Plains Location:
Backyard Sports will be providing structured sports and movement activities.
Fun Science is offered year-round and taught by the STEM Leadership Center professional science educators. One-hour lessons will be held weekly during three 12-week sessions during the school year and some sessions in the summer. Activities are grade-level appropriate and aligned with the N.Y and state science standards, so they reinforce classroom learning. YMCA offers the program year-round. The highly hands-on program has run since 2015 with outstanding results. Some topics may include solar and wind energy, biofuels, electric cars, water and electricity consumption, habitat conservation, ocean pollution, gardening/eating locally grown, recycling, and composting. Lessons are designed to inspire interest in environmental stewardship and sustainable energy. There will be an emphasis on global issues such as climate change and pollution.

“My name is S, and my daughter attends the YMCA camp in White Plains. As summer camp is coming to an end, I thought that I should bring to your attention how gracious, professional, and kind the staff are there. I am happy I chose this camp to send my daughter to this summer. Everyone has been attentive and kind. You can tell each staff member takes their work seriously and genuinely cares about the children in their care. As a parent, that is important to me, and I am sure to many others. To add, any concerns I have had, although miniature, were addressed immediately by Jada. She has a certain expectation from her staff, and it shows day to day. You can tell a lot about a place when staff, family, and children are comfortable coming there. A happy environment starts with their leader, and she is definitely leading well. I just wanted to take the time to praise Ms. Jada and all her team and hope that it continues and many more parents express their gratification for taking care of their loved ones. Thank you very much, Parent of a 7-year-old”
